Rye
I spent Easter in Rye with Jessie and James. On the way to Rye we visited Hever Castle. Once owned by Anne Boleyn's Dad, it was eventually purchased by the Astors in the early twentieth century. They decorated it tastefully with a lot of wood panelling but left a number of original features as well. When they weren't renovating they kept themselves very busy running the country and stuff. A very castely castle- I rather liked it. We also visited Dover Castle, the keep of which was unfortunately closed. We did get to scurry around various tunnels in the cliffs though. We walked a couple of sections of the South Downs Way, including the precipitous bit called the "Seven Sisters". A bit misty but enough visibility to allow us to see the cliff edge. The Long Man is a hill figure from the 16th or 17th centuries.
